Classic Mantels

About Us
Whilst we use only the finest quality timber, stone and marbles in the manufacture of our mantels, all are natural materials and customers must be aware of the following;

Timber

Genuine timbers are subject to inherent markings and grain variation, both of which form part of it’s natural beauty. Whilst every care is taken in selection, mantels supplied untreated or with a natural finish may be particularly subject to colour variation.

All of our timbers are kiln dried and therefore contact with even the minimum of moisture or change in humidity may lead to some movement. Timber mantels should never be installed against a recently plastered wall.

Most timbers, especially cherry, will mature in colour over a very short period of time. This again is a natural occurrence and dependant on exposure to light.

Marble & Stone

Limestone and marble are formed over millions of years from layers of marine life. This results in the natural markings and flaws which create it’s character and define it from manufactured substitutes. Many are inherently unsound and this can vary from hairline cracks in some varieties to extensive brecciation in others requiring reinforcement, repair or filling. Such repairs should not be regarded in any way as defects. Consequently, colour and veining will also vary making each piece unique and no two mantels exactly the same. Samples are always available but these can only be used as a guide. If in any doubt customers are invited to visit our factory to choose their own material.

We strongly recommend that your fireplace be inspected before it is installed and fitted by a professional installer. We regret that we cannot take responsibility if this caution is not followed.
